     The Trio Malatya is a chamber music ensemble from Ghent, founded in 2022. The three young musicians study as an ensemble at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and the Dutch String Quartet Academy. Together they want to tackle the diverse repertoire for clarinet, cello and piano from Beethoven and Brahms to contemporary composers such as Lachenmann and Janssens.

Nineteen years passed before the three gentlemen realized that they lived a stone's throw from each other and shared the same ambitions, after which they mastered the Clarinet Trio op.114 of Brahms with a mix of driven enthusiasm, musical (and other) fun and demanding professionalism and successfully performed in the Miry Hall in Ghent. In February 2023, the trio became laureate of the BLM competition (de Bijloke), Storioni competition (Eindhoven) and won the public award and the first prize of the Supernova competition (Klarafestival). In the autumn of 2023, they worked closely with composer Helmut Lachenmann for several months on his masterful chamber music work Allegro Sostenuto. Their concert season that year also consisted of about thirty concerts in various locations such as the Singel, the Bijloke, Bozar and various cultural centers.

Trio Malatya is an artist in residence of the non-profit organization SWUK Vlaanderen for 2023 and 2024. Based on their shared passion for classical, romantic and contemporary chamber music, the Trio Malatya

will continue to devote itself to exploring, rediscovering and expanding the repertoire

for clarinet, cello and piano in the coming years. ​

Das Trio Malatya ist ein Kammermusiksemble aus Gent. Es wurde 2022 gegründet. Die drei Musiker studieren als Ensemble am Königlichen Konservatorium Brüssel und an der Niederländischen Streichquartett-Akademie. Gemeinsam wollen sie das vielfältige Repertoire für Klarinette, Cello und Klavier von Beethoven und Brahms zu zeitgenössischen Komponisten wie Lachenmann und Janssens übergehen.

Neunzehn Jahre vergingen, bevor die drei Herren realisierten, auf einem Bogenstoß voneinander zu leben und die gleichen Ambitionen zu teilen, und sich dann mit einer Mischung aus leidenschaftlicher Begeisterung, musikalischem (und anderem) Vergnügen und anspruchsvoller Professionalität das Klarinettrio op.114 von Brahms Meister machten und erfolgreich im Genter Miryzaal auftraten. Im Februar 2023 wurde das Trio Preisträger der BLM Competition (De Bijloke), Storioni Concours (Eindhoven) und gewann den Publikumspreis und den ersten Preis des Supernova-Wettbewerbs (Klarafestival). Im Herbst 2023 arbeiteten sie für einige Monate eng mit dem Komponisten Helmut Lachenmann in seinem magistralen Kammermusikwerk Allegro Sostenuto zusammen. Ihre Konzertsaison bestand in diesem Jahr auch aus etwa dreißig Konzerten in verschiedenen Orten wie der Singel, der Bijloke, Bozar und verschiedenen Kulturzentren.

Trio Malatya ist Künstler in Residenz der VZW SWUK Flandern für 2023 und 2024. Aus ihrer gemeinsamen Leidenschaft für klassische, romantische und zeitgenössische Kammermusik möchte sich

das Trio Malatya in den kommenden Jahren weiterhin der Erforschung, Wiederentdeckung und Erweiterung des Repertoires für Klarinette, Cello und Klavier widmen.
