MARIA KATUGINA

Maria Katugina was born 1996 in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
She started to play violin at the age of 5 at the "Music School No.1", in the  class of  Dina Fadeeva. In 2009 she began to study in the Ural Musical College, in the class of professor Irina Mezrina.
During her studies, Maria played numerous concerts and participated in several competitions:
2009, she is prizewinner of the Alabiev russian competition for young artists. In 2010 she is laureate of the III international competition - festival "Juzhnouralsk - Salzburg" and performs in the Mirabell Saal in Salzburg.
One year later, she is guest of the Verbier Festival as participant of the Vladimir Spivakov's fund.
In years 2011 and 2014 she participates at the Christmas concerts in the Mirabell Saal in Salzburg and in that same year she is prizewinner of international competition - festival "Juzhnouralsk - Salzburg".

Since 2012, Maria has been regularly taking part in master classes with prof. Dora Schwarzberg and prof. Sergey Krylov.
During the years 2012, 2013 she participates at the Summer Academy in Mozarteum (Salzburg), as a student of Prof. Dora Schwarzberg. In 2014 and 2015, she is student of the Cenacolo Della Musica in Catignano (Italy) in the class of Prof. Dora Schwarzberg.

In 2012, 2014, 2016 she participates at the Summer camp Val Tidone, with Prof. Sergey Krylov.
Since 2016 she takes part in the Music Academy in the frame of the festival L'ETE MUSICAL EN BERGERAC.

The following years will be  dedicated to improve both solo and chamber music repertoire. She displays special aptitude for the great solo sonatas of Bach and Ysaye, as well as for the 24 Caprices of Paganini. She performs between 2016 and 2019 on a regular basis with pianist Viktoria Vasilchenko, being noticed for their interpretations of Franck, Prokofiev and Brahms.

 

Since 2015 Maria Katugina studies in the class of Louise Chisson, first at the Prayner Konservatorium für Musik und Dramatische Kunst in Vienna, and then at the Franz Schubert Konservatorium since 2020.

In 2022, she collaborates often with pianist Misho Kandashvili, with whom she is invited to perform a recital dedicated to Sergeï Prokofiev, in the frames of the 2023 season of the Esperus Concerts cycle at the Ehrbar Hall in Vienna.
